What a change a year makes. In 2010 our arrival in Darlington was delayed by snow and cold and so was our departure. This time it felt like spring. That is an exaggeration but at least we didn't have to worry about falling on the ice at every step we took. We got to see everyone in the family at least once, not least at the get-together that Jade organized for her Mam's birthday. We ate too much, of course, but Jan just can't resist all of her childhood favorites. This time she even managed to try a steak and kidney pie made with suet pastry. Ummm-mmm.

We also got to say hello to Jhap, who had come home from her other home, Thailand, a week earlier than Dave. Sadly, we didn't get to see him and so missed one of those rare opportunities when all of the siblings are in the same country at the same time. Boo Hoo.
