outes In Central America

January 26 - August 6, 2004

Over the course of just over five months we visted six of the seven central American countries. In fact, by Central American tradition, there are only five: Panama is excluded as until 1903 it was part of Columbia. And Belize is excluded as it was a British Colony until 1975?? The one country we didn't see is the smallest yet most densely populated: El Salvador.

Legend: On these maps our route, all in our own Ford Escort, is shown in brown. Place where we stayed are shown in by green circles. Places where we visited for a good part of a day are shown by blue circles.

Counting days and hotels, it seems that we averaged about 4.5 nights in 40 hotels. Our shortest (could it have been shorter?) was one night. Our longest was eight nights.
