We've managed to visit the seat of all three branches of the Italian government: in order of our visits, the Senate, the home of the president,and the Chamber of Deputies (or parliament). The first is housed in Palazzo Madama, the second in Pallazzo del Quirinale, and the third in Palazzo Montecitorio. We haven't yet managed to visit the home of the Prime Minister, Palazzo Chigi.

Going to these goverment seats made us want to make a list of all the similar places we'd visited. Here is is by year:

  • 1977 Ralwalpindi: Refused permission to visit Pakistan Parliament (due to military coup).
  • 1978 New Delhi: Indian Parliament
  • 1978 Washington: US Capitol, White House
  • 1999 Paris: National Assembly
  • 1999 Beijing: Great Hall of the People
  • 2002 Jersusalem: Knesset
  • 2002 London: House of Commons
  • 2005 Berlin: Bundestag, Bundesrat
  • 2005 Moscow: Kremlin (but only to the museums)
  • 2006 Athens: Refused entry to Parliament
  • 2009 Berlin: Belevue (President's House), Bundestag
  • 2010 Tokyo: National Diet
  • 2010 Bratislava: Refused entry to Parliament
  • 2010 Vienna: Parliament
  • 2010 Brussels: Parliament
  • 2011 Rome: Parliament, Senate, Quirinale (President's House)
