Celebrate the new Millennium on the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. Continue to enjoy staying in the Tilbrook's flat on Lamma Island.

Gerry is offered a job at Zhongxing Telecoms (ZTE).

February

Spend 3 weeks in Vietnam.

Gerry starts work at ZTE interviewing in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Nanjing.

March

Gerry finishes ZTE report.

Jan's Mam takes very ill on March 21. We drop everything to go to England but she dies hours before we arrive. We stay for her funeral.

April

Spend time with family in Darlington and work on website and little else.

May

Start the month in England, finish it in Hong Kong and China.

Gerry is preparing to teach two classes on UML for ZTE.  We register a partnership under the name of iTech Consultants.

June

Teach ZTE course

July

Bus from Nanjing to Wuhan then Yangtse cruise to Chongqing. Visit Buddhist caves at Dazu then take train to Guiyang. Train on to Guilin then fly to Guangzhou.

ZTE pilot project.

Fly to Ningbo, then take boat to Putuoshan Island. Boat and bus to Hangzhou then bus to Huangshan. Hike down from Huangshan to hot springs resort. Bus to Jiuhuashan for more climbing.  Jiuhuashan to Hefei, Kaifeng, Luoyang for Buddhist caves, Huashan for even more climbing, and Xian. Check out our route below.

Visit Jan's brother Dave and his wife Jhap and her family in Ban Sang, near Phayao, Thailand.

We meet in Phitsanulok and drive up to Chiang Mai then Phayao and Chiang Rai.

December

Fly to Bangkok and then take train to Hua Hin for a week by the pool and at the beach.

Back to Shenzhen to write final report for ZTE.
