Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Millenium
Christmas 1999
next

We hope you will all forgive us for not sending a real Christmas card to you all this year. Travel tends to distort the passage of time somewhat and so for us it is still hard to believe that it will soon be the holidays. We found out that we had almost completely missed Hannukah when we tuned in to the nightly English language news program on Chinese television to learn that it was the last night. So a belated Happy Hannukah to all.

You are probably all aware by now that we are in Hong Kong having spent three months in Eastern China, six weeks in Beijing and six weeks travelling. Some of the gory details are available on our website if you are interested, as are the details of our summer sojourn in Paris. The website has contact details for us in Hong Kong. Surf to:

{note: there is not any www or any dashes.}

We will be here in Hong Kong until the end of January for sure. After that things are less certain. Jan just wants to head for warmer climes (yes, even Hong Kong is a bit chilly in winter) while Gerry is keen to go back to China. A compromise may be to spend February in Vietnam working south to north and then move into China in March as the weather starts to warm up there. We will keep you informed.
Once again, our warmest wishes for the holiday season and here’s hoping our paths cross before the millennium is too old.
Jan and Gerry
