Michoacan State in now home to Morelia and Patzcuaro, the first a large colonial city and the second a tiny colonial jewel. But before the invaders came in the early 1500s the land was home to many volcanos and to an advanced Indian Culture. In recent years the volcanos have attracted eco-tourists and the stone pyramids of the indians have been extensively restored.
