Patzcuaro is the Greenwich Village of Mexico City. Well, not exactly, since Patzcuaro is not in the city, but 300 km to the west. Yet, it's colonial beauty and simplicity attract a great number of weekenders from Mexico City, in the same way the low-rise Greenwich Village attracts New Yorkers for a reminder of what their city once was. We were as enchanted to wall around its square and its pastel buildings as we once were to trod the Village's streets.
