The Miami Holocaust Memorial consists of a round outer wall with a large hand reaching from the center toward heaven that is visible over the wall. Inside the wall the names of the communities that disappeared in the Holocaust are listed. Further in, crossing a bridge to hell, are statue groups that movingly represent the people's suffering. We have seen many memorials to the suffering of the Jewish victims of the Nazis, but we both felt that this was one of the most emotive. The reflecting pool and plantings are so tranquil: they are the perfect counterpoint to the horror of the stark heart-rending statues.
