At the risk of being repetitive, we fell in love with Turkey largely because of places like Xanthos. We came here on a day trip from Kas enjoying a lovely dolmus ride up the steep cliffs from the Kas harbor and over to the high plateau of Xanthos another ruined city on a hilltop with fantastic views.

We didn't do anything earth-shaking, although we did discover another section of the Lycian Way as we wandered the backside of the Xanthos site. But we did find a delightful place for lunch looking out at the river valley below with the remains of the city to our back. We are definite fans of springtime in this part of the world. There is always sunshine and always a breeze. It may be a bit too cool for sunbathing, but it is perfect for visiting ancient sites.
